Winchester, Architecture + Planning
Architect and planning consultant in Winchester.
Design clarity and planning confidence, from one practice, for the Winchester district and its villages. We bring a chartered architect and a chartered planner together under one roof, which matters more here than almost anywhere.
One practice
Architecture and planning, working as one.
Most projects around Winchester need both good design and a considered planning strategy, and getting the two to work together is where value is won or lost. With a RIBA Chartered Architect and an RTPI Chartered Planner in one practice, we run the design and the consent as one process, from first sketch to decision, rather than handing you between separate consultants.
Local knowledge
Understanding the Winchester district.
Winchester City Council covers far more than the city itself: a large rural district of villages, much of it within the South Downs National Park, with numerous conservation areas and a strong emphasis on landscape and heritage. Whether your site is a village plot, a countryside setting or a sensitive edge, the planning approach has to respond to that context, and we design with it in mind from the start.
What we do
New homes, extensions and exceptional houses.
We work across the full range: new and replacement dwellings, extensions and renovations, Paragraph 84 country houses (the exception now set out at Policy HO11 of the NPPF), and small residential schemes. Whatever the project, the offer is the same, design and planning developed together, with a realistic view of what your site can support given early.
The work
Our work around Winchester and the South Downs.
Kerry Dames led the planning that made Water Lily House the first Paragraph 84 home approved in the Winchester City Council area. Alongside it, we have designed exceptional new homes across the surrounding South Downs landscape.
